Now a new report from Deeptrace, a Netherland based cybersecurity company, has published a new report stating 96 percent of deepfake videos online are porn, and they received over 134 million views. What important to note is that all porn videos feature female subjects. Danielle Citron, Professor of Law, Boston University, and author of Hate Crimes in Cyberspace, told the company that deepfakes are being used as a weapon against women: The report says since December 2018 the company has found over 14,678 videos online – that’s an increase of 100 percent over 7,964 videos found last year....

To start, living costs are incredibly high. According to SF Gate, studio apartments in the city rent for an average $2,500 per month. On top of that, businesses face challenges such as retaining top talent, as well as competing with other startups for investors and office space. In my experience, founders who aren’t from the United States can struggle if they don’t find the right organizations, events, and connectors fast....

The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga’s Center for Urban Informatics and Progress has been awarded a US$1.89 million grant from the US Department of Energy for a research project to create a new model for traffic intersections that reduces energy consumption. Along with partners including the University of Pittsburgh, Georgia Institute of Technology, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the City of Chattanooga, the three-year project aims to develop a dynamic adaptive traffic control system (ATCS) that reduces corridor-level fuel consumption by 20 percent while maintaining a safe and efficient transportation environment....

We’ve heard rumors of the company developing its own processor under the ‘Whitechapel’ codename back in April While the company didn’t tell us much about the specifications of this new processor, it did mention it’s based on ARM architecture — just like Apple’s M1 chip....

There’s no doubt these things are going to be popular, but I can’t seem them dislodging Apple’s AirPods as the de facto wireless earbuds in the true wireless space. So, let’s get into. There are a range of other features (20 hours of battery life with the case, an IPX4 water resistant rating, and auto-pausing when the buds are removed from your ear), but these aren’t really different from competitors....

But that description doesn’t cover the social intelligence and deceptive skills it takes to play this game well — which is what makes it so interesting to play and watch....

Instead, local authorities are putting their resources behind promoting the city as a growing tech hub, and giving the green light to entrepreneurial growth via initiatives such as StartupAmsterdam and Iamsterdam. And it seems to be working. Amsterdam was voted as the fourth most active startup hub in Europe in 2018, despite only being home to around 800,000 residents. My colleague Craig Corbett recently had the chance to visit Amsterdam, and we decided to put together a guide for entrepreneurs looking to set up a base in the city....

On one hand, the country has undergone an impressive economic transformation, which led to Forbes in 2012 naming Brazil “one of the most entrepreneurial countries in the world”. In 2000 Brazil’s GDP was ranked around 11th in the world at roughly $655.5 billion, and today it’s in the eighth position at roughly $2.5 trillion. However in the last five years, Brazil has experienced an economic recession while corruption at the highest levels of business and government has stoked political and social upheaval....

Now Apple is disputing some of Google’s claims about the severity of these exploits in order to “make sure all of our customers have the facts.” Apple aims multiple condemnatory comments towards the Project Zero post: Apple downplays the breadth of the attack, stating it was “narrowly focused, not a broad-based exploit of iPhones ‘en masse’ .” The attack affected “fewer than a dozen websites” relevant to the Uighur community....

The awards are a mix of choices from editors and experts and the number of streams on Apple Music platforms. While Global Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and, Breakthrough Artist of the Year awards are picked by a jury, Album of the Year and Song of the Year are picked by data. The company has already announced winners which include names like Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Lil Nas X....

Just like ‘login with Google’ and ‘login with Facebook,’ you can sign in into an app by ‘login with Apple’ button. It uses FaceID for authentication, and creates a new account if you don’t have any. More importantly, you can choose to hide your email address, and Apple will generate a random email ID visible to only to that particular app that’ll forward all emails to your main email ID....

Guilherme Rambo of 9to5Mac discovered a glyph in the iOS 13.2 beta that looks uncannily like a pair of earbuds — and the small tail is very characteristic of AirPods. Rambo found the icon “in a component of the system related to accessibility settings” and are apparently codenamed B298. The rumor comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who wrote about it in his Power On newsletter. Currently, the largest iPad the company sells is the 12.9-inch Pro, a goddamn beautiful machine with a gorgeous new mini-LED screen known as the Liquid Retina XDR. In terms of portable devices, the 16-inch MacBook is the largest screen Apple makes. I’d assume the rumor of an iPad with an increased screen size shows that the company is dedicated to further exploring the divide between the company’s actual computers and its tablets....

While the butterfly experiment appears to be over, the reality of day-to-day life with this keyboard isn’t. And Apple needs to do something about that. For those who haven’t been following the saga closely, some context. Since the end of 2015, Apple has been using a butterfly design on its laptop keyboards. You can find more in-depth info about that here, but, basically, it has to do with the mechanism of the keys....

For the first time, iOS 14 is to require apps to get permission from users before collecting their data – giving users an opt-in to this compromise to their privacy. This caused a major backlash from companies that rely on this data to make money, most notably Facebook. So why did Apple decide to jeopardize the business models of major rivals and their advertisers, and will the postponement make any difference?...

According to a report by Bloomberg, the Cupertino-based company is working on a new subscription plan to sell you iPhones and other hardware products. While finer details are yet to be finalized, the gist is Apple wants you to lease an iPhone or an iPad the same way you buy a subscription for its digital services through iCloud. As someone who’s been following the company for a good while, this move is rather puzzling to me....

Its guidelines have now been updated to state that, in limited cases, third-party analytics may be permitted in kids apps — provided that the services do not collect or transmit any identifiable information about children, such as their name, date of birth, email address, location, or unique device identifier. While Apple explicitly forbids developers from collecting any device or network information that could be used directly or combined with other information to identify users and their devices, it’s permitting third-party advertising on the condition that the services have publicly documented policies for Kids Category apps....

Revenue from the segment has doubled since 2020, the Financial Times reports. Dennis Laudick, VP of automotive go-to-market at Arm, attributed the growth to the number of chips required by high-end cars, which he described as “data [centers] on wheels.” This trend is set to accelerate as demand for electric and autonomous vehicles grows. Semico Research predicts the automotive chip IP market will double by 2027 — which could prove crucial to Arm’s future business....

The team of astronomers have been able to determine many of the qualities of the planet, including its radius, orbit and surface temperature. The exposed core is roughly the size of Neptune — 40 times the size of Earth — and orbits extremely close to a star that is similar to the Sun in many respects, completing a full tour in just 18 days. The researchers believe that TOI 849 b was originally a gas giant and some event in its history stripped away its outer layers, composed mostly of hydrogen and helium....
